These words were such a source of comfort to me. Being able to explain the feeling of culture shock, and discuss what’s good and bad in different places (as all places have both) was such a huge step forward in my ability to communicate and express myself. Sometimes, just the simple fact of being able to explain my reaction to something as “culture shock” was absolutely perfect — I could reassure people that I wasn’t reacting badly, just experiencing something new.
